"Emiya Shirou is not simple, he is not a moron, and most importantly, he is_not_normal, even for a Magus.
He is Distorted, with a capital “D”. The fire ten years prior destroyed everything there was of “Shirou”, leaving him nothing more than a walking corpse. No emotion, no feeling, no_self.
The child Emiya Kiritsugu pulled from the wreckage was Tabula Rasa, a blank slate empty of all human trappings. Thus, when Kiritsugu Saved Shirou, the first thing this empty child saw was the pure joy of Saving someone.
Emiya Shirou longs to be a Hero of Justice, because it is the only thing he understands. Saving people to Emiya Shirou is as natural as breathing to you or I.
No enjoyment, no satisfaction. Only the impulsive reflex to Save others.
This is why Shirou refuses to stand behind while others fight. To do so is literally unthinkable to him."
“Natural traumatic events—hurricanes, fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes and floods—are strong reminders of how vulnerable we are to the powerful unexpected forces of nature. Whether the loss of a home, or the loss of a loved one, sudden traumatic events shatter a person’s world, destroy what was once familiar and upset the normal sense of safety and stability. Viewing images of destruction, waiting and worrying about safety of family and friends in these areas, have left many witnesses, observers and others feeling shaken and unsure. Survivors are left splintered, shaken and denuded.
Equally damaging has been the result on the overall health and well being of survivors to these disasters. The emotional impact of a traumatic event may be felt for years, and for many whom have lost everything—a lifetime.”
